DualTake

Film for YouTube and TikTok at the same time: iPhone app options

Use a dual-format camera app. One take saves a 16:9 file for YouTube and a 9:16 file for TikTok and Shorts. DualTake, ContentCam, OmniCam, TwoFace and DualShot Recorder all do this on iPhone. The built-in Camera app records one orientation at a time.

What each platform wants

YouTube says 16:9 is its standard on computers and lists 1080p (1920x1080) and 4K (3840x2160) among the encode sizes for that ratio. Its player adapts to other ratios, and it advises against adding padding or black bars yourself. YouTube also says Shorts can be up to 3 minutes long. TikTok upload specs were not readable on a public page when we checked, so check the app before you post.
